Keith Larsen grew up in a small town in Northern Wisconsin. He recalls listening to the radio non-stop and when he got his first set of drums at age 12 playing everyday after school to the same radio. By late high school he began playing professionally. In college he studied music theory and played in the big band, and small groups out of school for any and all occasions. At the age of 25 he had already recorded records, toured and began teaching.
After a few years of working and recording steadily, Keith Larsen moved to Long Beach California and began his Master’s Program in Percussion Performance. The move proved wise as he quickly became immersed in the extensive and varied music scene of Southern California. Keith has performed and/or recorded with: Kei Akagi, Dean Taba, Ron Stout, Josh Nelson, Phil Collen and Doug Grean, to name a few. He has toured all over the US and Europe and to date has performed in six countries on three continents.
Currently Keith is regularly involved in several different groups ranging from New Orleans Funk to Jazz/Rock/Drum & Bass fusion to top 40/Classic Rock cover groups. On the studio scene he has worked with: Doug Grean (Stone Temple Pilots, Sheryl Crow), Darian Cowgill (Middle Class Rut, Oedipus, Beware of Darkness), Jason Mezilis (Owl, Black Belt Karate), Ryan Hafer (Ambrosia, Dishwalla, Ashley Matte), among many others.
